Recent paintings by David Laing Dawson
With art and science we investigate and explore the world around us and ourselves within it. While science is a cautious ladder, art can give us winged flight. And among the arts, I have always felt that each is best suited to particular spheres or domains.
Painting is best at exploring, at revealing, a moment in time, a small experience, an orange in a bowl, a roiling sea, a darkening forest, an unmade bed, a setting sun.
For about ten years I was represented by the Westdale Gallery in Hamilton, Ontario.
And then from 1995 until 2020 by Gallery on the Bay, in Hamilton, Ontario.
I had solo shows approximately every two years. Some of these shows were combined with my poetry, plays, and launches of my novels.
